About Phillip A. Tatlow

Phillip A. Tatlow is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin and has been fighting for justice as a litigator since 1991. Phil’s journey into law started with his education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1986. Growing up with a father who was a respected trial lawyer and a mother who was a talented author, Phil learned early on the importance of standing up for others and telling their stories in court.

Before becoming a lawyer, Phil dedicated his time to helping people with developmental disabilities. He played a key role in starting a group home for Mildly Mentally Disabled Women in Columbia, Missouri. This experience not only showed him the power of advocacy but also prepared him to fight for individuals with severe disabilities and injuries.

Phil has argued cases in front of the Missouri Court of Appeals, as well as in Circuit Courts throughout Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin. He’s also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for both the Eastern and Western District Courts of Missouri and in the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. Phil is also a respected member of several legal associations, including the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Missouri Bar Association.

At the heart of Phil’s work is a simple belief: everyone deserves a strong advocate in their corner. With his deep commitment to justice and his readiness to stand up for what’s right, you can count on Phil Tatlow to help you with your legal needs.

Professional Background and Experience

After completing his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Missouri-Columbia and his Juris Doctor at St. Louis University Law School in 1991, Phil followed in the footsteps of his father, an esteemed trial attorney. Since he began his practice the year he graduated from law school, Phil has dedicated his career to fighting for people who have suffered from wrongful death, accidents, nursing home abuse, workplace injuries, and more. His commitment to justice has driven him to take on challenging cases in state and federal courts across Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Phil has a broad range of experience, handling cases that involve automobile and truck crashes, ERISA disability claims, complex wrongful death lawsuits, and civil rights litigation. He stands out because of his ability to manage cases that require a deep understanding of both the law and the personal stories of those he represents.

Throughout his career, Phil has successfully argued over 175 jury and bench trials in state, federal, and administrative courts. He has also tackled more than 225 cases related to ERISA, securing benefits for numerous clients through trials, mediation, and appeals. Phil’s extensive trial experience, combined with his dedication to his clients, makes him a formidable advocate in the courtroom.

In addition to his litigation work, Phil has shared his knowledge with others as a lecturer on topics like ERISA litigation and personal injury. He believes in educating both upcoming lawyers and colleagues to improve the practice of law and advocacy for clients.
